Mark Gomez, Esq.
As CEO Mark Gomez has grown Gomez & Simone steadily over the years to fight for the Real Estate rights of the firm’s clients no matter the forum. As a law clerk Mark worked on foreclosure and eviction related cases helping clients reverse their foreclosures and obtain large cash settlements. As an attorney Mark has taken select cases on contingency confident in obtaining a positive outcome for his clients. In Valbuena v. Ocwen (2015), which he won on appeal and was later published in the 4th Appellate District, Mark reversed the foreclosure and his client returned back to their home. Under his leadership and case supervision, the firm has recovered millions on behalf of their clients.
Mark provides high quality legal representation for anyone with any type of Real Estate legal issue because he believes that for most families and individuals, building wealth means protecting their Real Estate rights.
His legal career started with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles before turning his attention to Real Estate civil litigation.
Mark enjoys spending time with friends and family, staying fit, running, music and is an avid basketball fan.

Ivan Medina, Esq
Associate Attorney Ivan Medina has previously worked at two reputable Los Angeles employment law firms representing employees in wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour claims. Although Mr. Medina comes from a family of physicians, he knew from an early age that he wanted to break tradition and pursue a career in Law. Mr. Medina began his legal career volunteering for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, where he received the Legal Aid Society of San Diego’s Outstanding Service Award for Pro Bono Volunteer Work.
In his spare time, Mr. Medina enjoys playing basketball, hiking, and playing with his Jack Russell terrier.

James Hornbuckle, Esq
Attorney James D. Hornbuckle has been helping clients with business, bankruptcy, personal injury, real estate, unlawful detainer and tax issues since 2003. Mr. Hornbuckle graduated from the University of Southern California with a major in Business Administration and received a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarship. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Whittier College of Law and was granted a merit based full-tuition scholarship.
He has experience successfully filing over 1,800 Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.

Rene Gutierrez, Esq.
Prior to joining Gomez & Simone, Associate Attorney Rene Gutierrez, worked at a prominent personal injury firm as a litigation attorney where he advocated for his clients. He handled vehicle accidents, wrongful death, premise liability, and catastrophic injuries.
Rene received his J.D. from Southwestern Law School where he graduated with Public Service Distinction for his volunteer legal service to the local community. He was also a Law Clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office in their Organized Crime Division. Rene’s passion, sense of justice, and work ethic make him a zealous advocate for his clients.
Outside of the law, Rene enjoys playing sports, spending time with friends, and trying new foods and restaurants.

Susan Murphy, Esq.
Senior Associate Susan Murphy recently celebrated 25 years as a practicing
attorney, and she comes to Gomez and Simone after 8 years as lead counsel for
Advocate Legal, a law firm specializing in Wrongful Foreclosure, Quiet Title, and
other real property litigation.
Susan began her career as a human rights
attorney representing refugees seeking asylum but was moved to change to
real estate litigation after the first foreclosure crisis. As two attorneys working
in the same field, Susan knew and respected the firm’s founding attorney Mark
Gomez, and was happy to have the opportunity to join a fellow attorney who is
passionate about helping homeowners hold onto their property.
In her free time Susan enjoys creative writing and hiking in Runyon Canyon
with her Yorkie Mojo.

Beatriz Reyes, BK Paralegal & Office Manager
With over a decade of experience working in a law firm Beatriz started her career working in one of the busiest Bankruptcy firms in Los Angeles. If a case requires her attention to stay after hours she does it. Her passion and dedication is shown every day and clients consistently give positive feedback about their experience with her.
Experienced in both Bankruptcy Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Beatriz shines as the office manager at Gomez & Simone ensuring various tasks and deadlines are followed up with. She is also especially skilled with communicating with clients and staff.
Beatriz speaks, reads, and writes Spanish Fluently. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking , spending time with her family, and reading.
Cesar Lossi, Mortgage Analysis & Intake Manager
Cesar Lossi is our client relationship specialist here at Gomez & Simone A.P.L.C.. Cesar’s role is to be the face of Gomez & Simone when new clients call or come into the office as well as to help in processing loan modifications within the litigation setting.
Cesar has worked at numerous law firms prior to Gomez & Simone and was a manager with Wells Fargo with experience in the loan servicing department. His experience in helping clients from Bankruptcy, Real Estate, Family Law, Estate Planning and Personal Injury allows him to communicate how Gomez & Simone can help their clients. Cesar is fluent in Spanish and always professional.
Elisabeth Herrmann, Provisional Licensed Attorney
While studying for her bachelor’s degree at Mount Holyoke College located in Massachusetts, Elisabeth was caught in two separate extreme snow blizzards, prompting her homecoming to sunny California where she received her Juris Doctorate from Western State College of Law with a certificate in Business Law. During law school, she interned for an employment law firm and the Legal Aid Society of Orange County. After law school, she obtained a unique background in Toxic Tort, specifically the enforcement of Proposition 65, which gave her the experience of protecting the proliferation of clients’ goals. She decided to pursue her true passion developed during her internships, which lies in having a more personal connection with clients in helping them safeguard their legal rights, something she obtains at Gomez & Simone.
Elisabeth enjoys traveling, hiking, baking, and getting lost for the hundredth time in the Harry Potter books.

Jaclyn J. Loberg, Paralegal
Jaclyn Loberg has an eclectic background in writing and research which naturally drew her interest in becoming a Paralegal. A Bay Area native, she spent 7 years after college in Chicago writing and directing live performance, before returning to California and settling in Southern California to pursue a rewarding career as a Paralegal.
When she is not at the office, Ms. Loberg can be found in the pool with her Masters Women’s Water polo team, at or on the way to the beach to surf or for an open water swim.

Carina Ochoa, Paralegal
Carina has years of customer service experience and is always going out of her way to help clients. She attended California State University of Northridge and Cerritos College pursuing a degree in Paralegal. It is her job to make sure clients understand the business side of legal representation and to coordinate with the attorneys and clients in order to provide effective and efficient legal representation. Her goal is to always accommodate people who need help and guidance with any issue she might be able to assist with.
During her free time Carina enjoys backpacking, gardening, and hiking.

Prior to joining Gomez & Simone APLC, Cassandra worked as a Legal Document Preparer and as paralegal for a Law Firm specialized in various areas of law such as Probate, Family Law, and maintains her Notary License.
In her Spare time, Cassandra enjoys outdoor activities, hiking, walking, going to the beach.
